Getting Ready for the Big Party!!!

Last year, Dad was gone for the Fourth of July, so Chris & Kelly (with Mom's OK of course) threw a party. A lot of their friends and family came and Chris & Logan McGee bought a butt-load of fireworks. We had enough for last New Year's Eve and for the Fourth this year.

This year, however, Mom & Dad as well as Kelly's little family aren't going to be here. Sidse & I had thought a couple of months ago that we should do our own version, and I didn't forget. I've been thinking about it since then & I'm just about to start getting ready for it.

Sidse & I came up with a menus of kabobs & salads. This is because Robin & Jeremiah are struggling vegetarians & I want to at least "pretend" to be supportive. Just kidding! After all, I supported Jeny all through high school, so it's only fair to do so with Rob & Jer. So I bought most of the vegg last night... P.S. Never go to WalMart the day before a holiday rife with camping and BBQs! I was in line for 20 MINUTES!!! Today I just need to set up the table on the deck, the table for the fireworks to be screwed to, the garbage can so the refuse can be put in it, finish the dishes that Kelly said she would do after Sunday, water Dad's plants again, water Mom's plants, water Grandma's rose, take a shower, finish my laundry... and probably go back to the store to pick up zucchini & maybe charcoal if we don't have any here.

It sounds like a lot to do... and it is, but I have like 8 hours until most of them are going to show. I think Rob & Jer are the only ones planning on being early. And we'll see how it goes. Thankfully, as much as I want everyone to have a fabulous time, I'm not going to kill myself trying to impress them. If they're not already impressed, then that's their problem. But I guess it's not helping that I'm screwing around with this... Hmmm... What to do... What to do...

Why the Heck is it so HOT here???

I live in Washington State. For anyone that knows something about meteorology, you know that Washington is a temperate, yet rainy, type of place. And it has been all year. I actually heard some time in late May that we'd only had 22 sunny days the entire year so far.

But then the "heat wave" hit us. I've been so absolutely miserable outside. I don't know what my problem is! After all, I did spend two years in Las Vegas! But it's been like 8 years since then and I'm back to being a true Washingtonian. So when the heat started hitting like 85 degrees at 10 in the morning, I started wilting faster than an ice cube in the oven.

What is wrong with me??? If you ask anyone else in the continental US, you'd be told that this is NOTHING! So now I'm just blessing every second that Mom and Dad installed a heat pump this year. I could just cry. I'm such a friggin' wuse!

Something People Just Don't Know About Me...

I am a very friendly person... I am... But what a lot of people don't necessarily know about me is that there are times that I really do prefer to be alone. It's not that I don't like the people around me or anything like that... It's just that... Hmmm... How to put this...

You should know that, until a year ago, I spent three years on my own in Bellevue. I didn't do a lot of social stuff... totally by choice... Whenever I wanted... or was requested... I would go back dow to the fam home and spend the weekend. Then, when I was totally overloaded with people, I would go back home and decompress.

But in May 2007, I jumped into a new career... And I mean jumped. There was no pre-looking involved... With that came a move closer to family, which I appreciated. But when I was living in Bellevue, I kinda' let my finances take a backseat so my credit SUCKED!!! I was going to have to borrow money to be able to pay the deposit that was requested by the two apartments that I applied for. (Meaning my deposit was like 2 or three times a rent payment... Yeah. I have bad credit, so OF COURSE I have a grand or two just hanging around.)

After a lot of soul-searching and some discussion with my parents, I decided to move in with them with the goal of paying off my bills and, therefore, repairing my credit. It's 14 months later and all my bills are paid off... HOORAY! But I've been noticing that, as time goes on, my patience level for people around me has decreased. I really do hate that about myself, but it's true. It's one of the reasons why I know I have to get my own diggs... and soon!

It's All About Trying Something New

OK, my family is always bugging me about a blog... and you know you are... But my FrontPage applications don't like to automatically create blogs. This is a problem for someone like me who would like a blog that would automatically hide itself. Unfortunately, FrontPage doesn't have that option yet. I've used LiveJournal... couldn't get behind that... and Xanga... well, it's got ads for days and it driving me a little mad... or the myriad of other applications out there. I even almost made a iWeb site that I could try to link to my FrontPage site, but I think that's becoming too difficult. Let's see how BlogSpot goes...
